creatiVE Summer School 2018

Why search our heritage roots on the Internet when we may discover them in an entertaining way, by the means of third millennium technologies, and integrate them in our personal interpretation. The link with the roots of humanity may become stronger by socially interacting to interpret them. Virtual and augmented reality represents the technology that permits us to bring to life these lost historical periods of time, while protecting the real artifacts for generations to come.

The 7-th Edition of creatiVE Summer School in Virtual Environments, organised at Ovidius University of Constanta by CeRVA Lab of the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science, together with the Museum of National History and Archaeology from Constanta and Transilvania University from Brasov, the latest being supported by European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 692103, project eHERITAGE (Expanding the Research and Innovation Capacity in Cultural Heritage Virtual Reality Applications), focuses on applying mixed reality in the reconstruction of archaeological artifacts discovered in Dobrogea enhanced with animated elements. The project's aim is to specialize students in 3D modeling and historical reconstructions, while having the purpose of adding soft skills such as team work.

Target:

The 7-th edition of creatiVE addresses highschool, undergraduate, master and PhD motivated students in experimenting with mixed reality technology.

Number of participants: 10-15 students, 3-5 lecturers

Participation:

Registration will be made by following the procedure mentioned below:

Step 1 - send an email of interest at "d m p o p o v i c i at u n i v - o v i d i u s . r o" without spaces. Minimal conditions: 2D/3D computer graphics, optional C/C++ programming.

Step 2 - after receiving a confirmation email, you may need to pay a fee. To this end, please find the payment coordinates below!

Fee:

Invited speakers and participants from Ovidius University don't need to pay any fee.

For all other participants, the fee is 450 RON.

Laurențiu CLIANTE

Archaeologist at the Museum for National History and Archaeology Constanța. His domains of interest are ancient glass and 3D reconstructions.

Călin NEAMȚU

PhD. Assoc. prof. at Technical University of Cluj-Napoca.

He is interested in 3D modeling, reverse engineering and digitization using different scanners: laser, structured light, multisensory CMM and terrestrial scanners.

Tiberiu POTARNICHE

Archaeologist at the Museum for National History and Archaeology Constanța

His domains of interest are ancient glass and Roman Byzantine archaeology and he conducts the excavation from the eastern sector of Capidava fortress.

Irina SODOLEANU

PhD, archaeologist, curator at the Museum for National History and Archaeology Constanța. Her research area comprises ancient archaeology in Dobroudja, the evolution of urban features of the ancient cities on the dobroudjan coast of the Black Sea, Roman mosaics in the Western Black Sea area.

Daniel Gheorghe VOINEA

Transilvania University of Brasov

PhD student, member of the UTBv research team. Interested in 3D modelling and animation, with a focus on dedicated tools such as Unity, Unreal Engine, Blender, Google Tango and others.
